About This Portal

A joint initiative by BGMEA and BIGD (BRAC Institute of Governance and Development, BRAC University) to make ESG performance data transparent and actionable for Bangladesh's ready-made garment sector.

Mission

The BGMEA–BIGD ESG Dashboard Portal provides a transparent, evidence-based view of environmental, social, and governance performance across Bangladesh's RMG sector.

By aggregating survey data from 293 factories and presenting it through standardized ESG metrics, the portal enables factories, buyers, and policymakers to benchmark performance, identify gaps, and track progress toward sustainability goals.

Understanding the Different Factory Counts

Multiple numbers appear across this platform — each reflects a different sample or coverage category, not conflicting data.

Coverage Type Count What It Means
Public ESG profiles 293 Anonymized factory profiles with at least one year of ESG data
2026 energy survey 243 Factories in the most recent annual energy & social survey wave
2025 energy survey 156 Factories in the prior year's energy assessment survey
Compliance survey (2025) 158 Factories assessed under the DIFE-style building and worker safety compliance survey
BGMEA active members 2,500 Current active registered BGMEA member factories (confirmed registry, 2026)

Geographic coverage spans Gazipur (118 factories), Dhaka (74), Chittagong (72), and Narayanganj (23), with the remainder distributed across other districts. Survey participation grows each year.

Privacy & Anonymization

All public data is anonymized. Factory names, contact information, and precise GPS coordinates are never displayed in public views.

Factories are identified by anonymized codes (e.g. FAC-042). Individual factory profiles are only visible when a factory has opted in to public disclosure.

Benchmarking statistics require a minimum peer group of 10 factories to prevent re-identification through inference.
